The article said he ballooned up to 196 pounds(!) in October 2011, after finishing the 2010 season at 160 pounds.

Bronson Arroyo thinks his velocity will be back.

The ball feels better coming out of my hand in long toss, he said. Off the mound, its a little harder to tell. But as far as long toss, Im definitely feeling better. This is as healthy as Ive been in a long time. My arms always been healthy. But my backs been banged up for years. I think thats affected flexibility.

Im as healthy and flexible as Ive been in a lot of years.

Maybe not "shape", but close enough.

    Barry Davis @SNBarryDavis
Just finished shooting ftr with Brett Cecil, who's lost over 30lbs in the off season. Says he's in best shape of his life #bluejays

Sabermetrics is this: A batter's goal is to extend the inning. Extend enough innings and you're going to score runs. Extend more innings than your opponent and you're going to score more runs than him.

Jay Bruce reportedly showed up 15 pounds lighter and Homer Bailey packed ON 15 pounds...coincidence? I'll hunt down the articles later when I have more time.
