    The Return of Manny Ramirez

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...mTO_story.html

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Manny Ramirez applied for reinstatement to Major League Baseball, and his suspension for a second failed drug test was cut Sunday from 100 games to 50 because he sat out nearly all of last season.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I wonder what kind of shape Manny is in after sitting out a season? Guy could always hit but definitely Dr. Strangeglove with the leather. No thanks.

You say no thanks to that potential bat just because of his defense when we had Gomes out there for two years?

Yes. I think the distraction and baggage that he brings is not worth it. Plus, I doubt the Reds would seriously consider it. I think Manny's ship has sailed.

Get your suspension cut in half b/c you quit before serving the suspension? Just another reason why this MLB fan thinks the whole "testing program" is a joke that is more smoke-n-mirrors to fool fans than anything else. Just like the NFL...

They shouldn't shorten the suspension by a day. He "retired" and sat out because he didn't want to be suspended. C'mon, Bud. Make a statement.

So his retirement voided the contract he had signed last year and now lets him sign with anyone else? Not that Tampa would be complaining but that does not seem right.

I get a kick out of the whole Manny melodrama every year.

But I agree. I don't want him here and his ship has sailed.

But I also agree that Manny>Gomes, even with his lousy defense.
