My Take: If the Rockies pay half his salary, I would make this deal.

I posted this elsewhere. Colorado just traded for Kevin Slowey. Speculation is the interest in EV may be gone. Slowey is the second starter they have picked up so far this off-season.
Zero chance the Reds miss the playoffs!

I doubt this gets done, but I'd be a very happy camper if it did.

At the very least this means teams still believe Volquez has value. Give his injury history, PED history and recent on field performance, I'm just happy to see his name still appearing in trade talks.

Way too expensive and injury prone. Why would the Rox want to give him away??

The new outlook is the Rox will pay for his salary if they can get prospects.

No reason to assume this at all, given that there's no indication he's making the transition. Besides, this club could use some bullpen help regardless of whether we go closer by committee, Boxberger, or anyone else.

Street got traded to the Padres for a PTBNL... hmm. Clearly we must have wanted a strong discount or other prospects in addition to Volquez. Still, it seems odd that the Padres of all teams would be willing to take on the $7 million salary of a closer rental and we wouldn't, especially when you consider that Boxberger is the favorite to be the 2013 closer.
