Is the AL a real, actual league?

The last handful of years I have wondered if the AL is an actual league in this reality's MLB or a fantasy Candyland league where everyone makes $20 million a year and every team has 3 hitters with 100 RBI and 3 pitchers with an ERA under 3.00. Do you think the American League and its DH and fanciful players are real? I watched 15 minutes of a Yankees game once and I swear nothing happened but I walked away for a second and when I came back the scoreboard said it was 18-12 and there had been 7 home runs hit. Magic? Mystery? The AL?

It is all an elaborate hoax. Like North Dakota or Linux.

The American League is about as real as the Loch Ness Monster, Sasquatch or Chupacabra. Pujols signed with the Angels. He will never be heard from again.
