It'll be interesting to see the numbers. I can't imagine a player choosing Minnesota who had such a bad year last year versus some of the contenders he's been linked to.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I'm looking at his stats and his OBP has diminished dramatically the past couple of years. He had some good power numbers in a bad hitters ballpark so its a mixed bag. If this is the Twins formula to get back on top of the division again, they might have wishful thinking.

I really like Willingham, but with the players we currently have in the org, he only made sense if we traded away some guys. I would be very curious to see a scouting-based explanation on why his BB% cratered and K% rose in Oakland last year.

The story I see in the Fangraphs data is that he started swinging more and making contact less, despite seeing no more strikes than usual. Perhaps he did the classic "I'm the clean-up guy, I have to drive in runners" thing and started expanding the zone. His P/PA stayed very high, as it has always been for him, but perhaps that's because what used to be walks were now strikeouts.

In any event, nice addition for the Twins.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

He has never really played in a hitters park in any time in his career. Those 29 hrs and 98 RBIs would likely fatten up a little in the GAB.

Good. Now Cuddyer to the Rockies. Reds trade Alonso for Shields or Garza, and sign Beltran!

    Then I wake up.

Walt has an effective approach to free agents. If you consider one, just keep on considering long enough and someone will take care of the problem for you.

Only a loss depending on if we trade away any key outfielders.
