    Re: Whats Next

My next move would be adding Seth Smith from Colorado, assuming the price is right.

He kills RHPs (career .880 OPS) and would be a nice platoon player in LF / LH bat off of the bench.

    Re: Whats Next

LF and Closer need attention by most accounts ( I like Heisey in LF/CF)

Walt mentioned that discussions might fire up as the closer market has changed (CoCo could return ?)

    Re: Whats Next

I would love to see Madson signed to a 3 yr 21 M deal first.

Followed by a vet utility guy on the cheap to back up Cozart.
Jack Wilson ? Craig Counsell O Vizquel?

Still need that one righty bat in the 4 hole in between Votto and Bruce. not sure who that could be.

Kubel? How about taking a cheap flyer on Magglio Ordonez.

This time a year ago people were poking fun at the cards for putting Berkmann in RF. Maybe Ordonez could be that 20HR 90RBI guy for us.

This all sounds plausible. Good thoughts. But Kubel and Smith are lefty, I'd skip them.

    Re: Whats Next

Theriot will be here to backup at the IF spots (not that I want him).

I think CoCo comes back for 2 years around 10 million.

Would we make a splash and try to sign Beltran or Yoenis Cespedes? Not sure Beltran is realistic (although I wish he was), but Cespedes could be possible.

Or what if the Reds decided that Chapman wasn't going to be able to be stretched to a TOR type pitcher before his contract ends? Could they sell high on him? Freeing up more $$$ and bringing back a cost controlled LF in the process? Miami seems like a good fit...big draw for the area. Would Logan Morrison + some prospects with high ceilings in low ball be enough in return? It would replentish the farm system a bit & allow him to look for another starter with the excess he still has at is disposal (maybe Jurrjens or Gonzalez?). Or he could just sit on the $$$ (sign an Oswalt for a year) then use the money saved to try and extend Votto?

Lots of possibilities & I definitely don't think we are done yet!

Walt says hes got deals on the front and back burner. Seemed like he thinks were going after more pitching(Saunders???). I think we bring back CoCo and sign a viable right handed bat that can play in the OF. If he does go after more starting pitching who is the odd man out? Bailey? Because Leake and Arroyo are not going anywhere. Mabey we package Bailey and Stubbs for another starter and RH OF.

    Re: Whats Next

Bailey or Leake(I prefer Bailey here), Heisey, Sappelt, Lotzkar, and Crappe to the White Sox

    and

Floyd, Quentin, and cash to Cincy

    That gives the Reds this.
    1) Cueto
    2) Latos
    3) Floyd
    4) Leake or Bailey
    5) Arroyo

    C- Mesaroco
    1B- Votto
    2B- Phillips
    SS- Cozart
    3B- Rolen
    LF- Quentin
    CF- Stubbs
    RF- Bruce

    1) Phillips
    2) Cozart
    3) Votto
    4) Quentin
    5) Bruce
    6) Rolen
    7) Mesaroco
    8) Stubbs

Then sign Coco to a 2 year 10 million deal.

That would be a solid team and should be next.

We've got a cheap veteran utility guy in Cairo. I'd rather keep Janish than add any that who listed.

What does the thought of Ryan Ludwick in LF in 2012. Would that be OK?

The thought is perfectly okay. But how would acting on that thought and acquiring Ludwick improve the Reds?

Pass. Ludwick isn't an upgrade over what we've got in Heisey / Sappelt.

Hamilton, Soto, and any other minor leaguer with talent for a closer I guess.

By the time Walt is done, we will be.

The Walt Jockerty - Dusty Baker era will go down as the biggest missed opportunity in the history of the franchise.

Horrible leadership at the major league level.

Hell....why would we worry about price now?
