    The Clear Trade Loser:

The Seattle Mariners! King Felix is great, but he's not pushing them over the top by himself and playing in that stadium they should be able to find stopgap starters to help them. I've always liked the M's, it was hard not too growing up in the Griffey era, but they're dropping the ball.

Not trying to be snarky, but what does this have to do with?

just a thought. The Reds and SD improved themselves and with the preliminary debate about who got the better end of this deal, it made me think of a team like the mariners, who could be re-organizing and acquiring assets instead of squandering the ones their sittin on

I don't consider Felix a serious trade chip. Only 3 or 4 teams could afford him, and 2 of those teams don't need him. They could check with the Yankees and Bosox, but I doubt those 2 teams have enough good prospects that it would be worth it to Seattle.

There only other decent trade chips are Suzuki, and he's old now and too expensive. Pineda is a decent trade chip, but doesn't have much of a track record like Latos did.

Personally, I think Seattle is screwed.

Actually, the Yankees have one of the best farm systems in baseball. Baseball America rated their system the fifth best farm system in baseball in 2011. That was ahead of the Reds even before they gave a ton of prospects to San Diego. They are stocked because they haven't made a whole lot of big trades, spent tons of money on free agency, and spent tons of money in the draft. They would have the chips to get King Felix.

The Ms have a good system too.... And they really have no compelling reason to trade Felix just for the sake of trading...
