Here's a few noteworthies, two of our liabilities in there.
I also see where the Dodgers owe Manny $8.3 last year and this year. The Tigers had $11M deferred last year on about 4 different players, only one still playing for them. It looks like its baseball's not so secret dirty little secret. Quite a bit of information out there.

"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"
Everything is speculation right now. The contract isn't finalized because he still hasn't even taken the physical (but Fayl's reporting that he's doing that later this week). But everything I've read/heard is that it's basically 1 year for 8.5 million. Someone said it was 6 with a 2.5 million buyout, but it's still 1 year at 8.5 guaranteed.
~per FaylReliever Ryan Madson will be in later this week for a physical, a Reds team source confirmed today.
The Reds and Madson have agreed to a one-year, $8.5 million deal pending the physical. The 31-year-old Madson last year saved 32 games for Philadelphia, with a 2.37 ERA.

So Madson is only making $2 million during the seasonCINCINNATI — Free-agent closer Ryan Madson and the Cincinnati Reds have finalized their $8.5 million, one-year contract.
The deal, agreed to Jan. 11 and announced Friday, calls for a $6 million salary this year, of which $2 million is deferred until Nov. 1 and $2 million until Nov. 1, 2013. The agreement includes a $11 million mutual option for 2013 with a $2.5 million buyout.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!
that's a... creative distribution of salary. affects only two fiscal years, and minimally affects this year's budget. damn clever.
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
That has to be the worst deal Boras ever negotiated for a client. The 2 things I take from that:
1. The Reds were Madson's only bidder.
2. Boras really needs to get a good deal for Fielder.
Boras is in a touvh spot with Fielder. He really needs to land him a Pujols-esque contract, but while many would be willing to give him the same kind of annual diollars, I don't think anyone will do it over a like period of years. Because of his wieght and longevity concerns, I can't see anyone giving him more than three years. IMO, even five years would mean he would have to reduce the dollar per year average.
I agree with the premise of your post. Fielder wanted a 10-year deal when FA started and he's not going to get anything close to that. But I assure you he will get more than a three-year deal. Someone will sign him for 5 or 6 years IMO. But that's still a far cry from what he was originally requesting.
FYI:
Ryan Madson was scratched from a scheduled appearance Thursday in a minor league game. There is a problem with his elbow.
.
no bueno. TJ.
Here is Fay's report on it:

Reds closer Ryan Madson probably is not going to pitch in a minor league game today as planned.
The Reds aren’t saying much about it.
“We’re sorting it out,” Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. “We’ll let you know.”
