    Seth Smith now in Oakland

Scratch him off your wish list -- if you were so inclined to wish for him.

Rockies got 2 extreme flyball pitchers for him.

Guillermo Moscoso & lefty Josh Outman.

I don't see much here for either team.

OK Walt -- show us your cards!

That stings. Smith would have been perfect for this team, and we got outbid by Oakland.

    So.

What's it gonna be, Ludwick or Fukodome?

I don't a clue who will be picked up -- but if I recall properly -- Smith can't hit lefties so I don't see how he fit into the Reds lineup.

You're right that Smith struggles with LHP, but he crushes righties, which is what I think this team needs. Most of our core now - Stubbs, Phillips, Rolen, Hanigan - have put up much better numbers over their careers against LHP. Heisey's splits thus far seem to imply he favors right handers, but they seem too lopsided to me, and I expect them to fall more in line with the tendencies of a normal right handed bat. Smith would have given us another lefty that the roster sorely needs. We could then have also given Stubbs rest against particularly tough righties by sliding Heisey into center.
