    Victor Martinez suffers torn ACL

According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, Victor Martinez suffered a torn ACL during winter conditioning and could miss the 2012 season if the injury requires surgery.

per rotoworld, a damn shame as he's one of my favorite players to watch at the plate.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Isn't Victor pretty much a full-time DH for the Tigers now? I guess maybe he was the back-up catcher, but I don't know if they need another name at catcher just because of this injury.

That really hurts the Tiger's plans for 2012. Perhaps the Reds can take advantage by offering a hitter or two for Jacob Turner?

    Would Frazier and Francisco work?

That would allow Detroit to cover Martinez's offense by spreading it out over DH and 3B.

Of course, the Reds would then have to sign a 3B (ahem, Wilson Betemit) to help cover for Rolen.

    But that's pretty workable, IMO.

Jacob Turner is an elite prospect. They aren't trading him for Frazier and Francisco, neither of whom even look like a starter.

My guess is they'll sign Vlad. No info. Just a hunch.

I don't know, but there were already rumors about Pudge returning to the Tigers before this happened.
