@jonmorosi: RH pitcher Wirfin Obispo, former Yu Darvish teammate w/ Nippon-Ham Fighters, signs minor-league deal with #Reds, source says
Isn't he from the Dominican Republic?
Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
Cincinnati Bengals - None
Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98
I think this could be a nice depth signing. He was decent for the DSL Reds before heading east. Interesting to sign someone who was once in your system. If nothing else he's pitched in some high pressure situations in Japan and won in their post season.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
I assume this means he can enter the country now. He was part of the same scandal that caught Alexi Ogando years ago. He was the Reds next Jose Rijo at one point. What could have been.....
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.
Nippon Ham Fighters.
Possibly the most awesome team name.
Okay, so his is a former Reds minor league guy. I thought I was having deja vu with the name.
Isn't he formerly Alexander Farfan, an old Reds farm hand?

Sounds to close to Worthless Absymal to me.
"I can't take this homerism anymore." - 10xWSChamps, August 11, 2010. A Cardinals fan having a problem with all the homerism on Redszone. Classic.

I remember looking at his stats when he was with the DSL Reds. freakish numbers. I guess he's healthy now?
