Does anyone have the latest history of the Cincinnati Reds DVD title Reds' Memories? If so what is everyone's opinion of the DVD?
I received this DVD the Christmas before last and finally got around to watching it the other night. What is everyone's opinion on the DVD with the quality of historic material? I felt that everything was fast forwarded as quickly as possible to get to the era of 1970-1990, granted those were the Reds' greatest years but I guess since I grew up in half of that era I have been exposed to numerous documentaries about the contemporary era of Reds baseball.
What I'm trying to get at is I was hoping for a more in depth look at early Reds history (late 19th, early 20th century), sort of like the Ken Burns Baseball approach.
So that is one thing I didn't like about the documentary. The other thing I didn't like about the documentary was Edd Roush's old hag granddaughter on their sulking about how her poor grandfather's 1919 Reds were overshadowed by the Black Sox scandal and how the 1919 Reds had a better winning percentage than the Big Red Machine. The woman needs to realize that tarnished or not it doesn't really matter because the 1919 Reds were and forever are the 1919 World Series Champs, there is a banner hanging in GABP to prove it and its in the immortal baseball history record books, PERIOD! I spit out my beer laughing so hard thinking about how this woman probably believes the 1919 Reds were better than the Big Red Machine.
