Putting a video on YouTube, Technical Help

I had our old home movies put on a DVD and want to share them with my cousins as well as some old school friends. I thought I would just be able to upload it, but I guess it's more complex than that.

The files are in a Video_TS folder. In the folder there are multiple files, the two largest being two different VOB files, but there are also some that have the extension BUP and IFO.

Does anyone know how I get these set up so I can upload them for viewing? I just checked and the file on the disk says its 1.84 GB.

What you are going to need to do is find some free DVD Ripping software, which will get the Video_TS.vob files off of your computer. What you will then need is a a program which will then convert those VOB files into a format that is smaller so you can upload them to youtube. I have always used DVD Fab Decrypter to get the files from the DVD to the computer. From there, you will need to find a program that will convert the two VOB files into something smaller for uploading to youtube. Format Factory will do that for you and is also free.

You only need to worry about the VOB files. Those are the videos.

The problem with that is that you will need to upload the full video with this process. If you only wanted to do clips, you will need to know a little bit more.

If you don't get an answer now, Redsmetz, maybe someone will post an answer three years from now.

It will be the whole video, Doug. While they're individual films (about 9 in all), it's all just one DVD. I wonder if the guy who converted these for me may have the ability to do this for me. I'm not technically proficient, so I'm concerned it may be a big time-consuming undertaking for me. If it's something he can knock out for me at a reasonable cost, that would probably be worth it for me.

Another questin is, would the music he has playing throughout the video be part of the VOB files?

    Thanks for your input.

Yes, the music will be a part of the video files on the DVD, they are not separate files.
