Shaping up to be a pretty good 2012 concert season in Cincinnati

Dave Matthews Band will be back on tour this summer after a one-year haitus, including a stop in Cincinnati on May 29. And Paul Brown Stadium hosts its first large-scale concert on July 1 with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw.

Feb. 23 - Gaelic Storm at Bogarts
Feb. 25 - Foreigner at Taft Theatre
March 2 - The Black Keys at US Bank Arena
March 30 - Allison Krauss and Union Stadium featuring Jerry Douglas at Taft Theatre
April 3 - Daughtry at Music Hall
April 18 - LOW with R. Ring at Taft Theatre
April 28 - Trampled by Turtles with These United States at Taft Theatre
May 20 - Brad Paisley with The Band Perry and Scotty McCreery at Riverbend
May 29 - Dave Matthews Band at Riverbend
May 31 - Lady Antebellum with Darius Rucker and Thompson Square at Riverbend
June 6 - Red Hot Chili Peppers at US Bank Arena
June 15 - Miranda Lambert at Riverbend
July 1 - Kenny Chesney with Tim McGraw and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at Paul Brown Stadium
July 20 - Rusted Root at Taft Theatre
July 24 - Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at Riverbend
July 28 - Toby Keith at Riverbend
Aug. 3 - Sugarland at Riverbend
Aug. 16 - Jason Aldean with Luke Bryan at Riverbend
Aug. 22 - Rascal Flatts at TBD
Aug. 23 - Jimmy Buffet at Riverbend

Still no word on if GABP will host a concert this summer after last year's wildly successful McCartney show.

I was hoping they'd somehow lure Dave Matthews to play GABP -- sadly, not in the cards. Still excited for the summer.

Dave matthews? Really? Not even his mom wants to see him in concert!

I'd love to see another big 'get' for the next GABP. You can't get another Paul, but maybe a Springsteen or something.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:

    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I like Dave Matthews but live, never again.

The extended solos were so bad, I gave up and headed to the car. The four minute version of his stuff is much better.

I don't think DMB is doing any ballparks this year, though they haven't announced a show for Chicago yet so maybe a Wrigley encore is in the works. As usual, Colorado also isn't on their initial tour date release. I would go if they played at Coors.

@Joseph: DMB will sell out Riverbend again.

They'll sell out Riverbend, and they'd come close to selling out GABP if they put the show on a Saturday night -- especially since they aren't playing Louisville or Columbus this year.

The big rumor that's been swirling around for a while is that they're going to play Red Rocks in Colorado, but that happens every year.

I was at Wrigley Field 2 years ago and had a blast. I'd definitely go back if they announce another show there.

This thread is making the music snob in me come out. I'll have to refrain from comment.

The problem with Red Rocks is it's just too small to accommodate large tours. When I lived out on the Front Range, I was disappointed at the lack of summer tours that play Red Rocks (opting instead for Pepsi Center, Broomfield or elsewhere). And when big shows do go there, it's next to impossible to get tickets because people from around the country rush to buy tickets in order to see their favorite band at Red Rocks.

I guarantee you that if you list every band you like, if you're honest, there will be one that draws heat from others.

Well it was a downright awful fall lineup so it's about time. I'll be at The Black Keys and Cloud Nothing's in March, and Lucero in April...

Criticizing someone else's taste in music is as ridiculous as criticizing someone's favorite flavor of ice cream or favorite beer. To each their own.

Yeah that's pretty much how I feel even if I still pass judgement internally. My wife passes judgement on my taste continually. But what the hell does she know?

Music Festival in July at Sawyer Point

    Headliners

    Friday - Jane's Addiction
    Saturday - Weezer
Sunday - Death Cab for Cutie

Could be good if they get some good supporting acts as well.

I have a busy concert schedule ahead
    This Friday - Heartless Bastards
Next Friday - Young the Giant/Walk the Moon
Friday after that - Black Keys/Arctic Monkey
    3/23 - The Joy Formidable
    4/4 - Snow Patrol

Where did you hear about Buffett being at RiverBend August 23?

This Link shows nothing past April?

Last year he played Aug. 23 in Cincy.

You're right. I somehow put in the 2011 Riverbend tour date; 2012 hasn't been announced yet.
