While conventional wisdom seems to rank "Goldfinger" at the top of the list of 007 films I have always thought it was overrated. It has a few iconic moments ("Do you expect me to talk? No, I expect you to die."--the DB5), I find it to be dull for long stretches.
My list of favorite James Bond films:
Casino Royale
Goldeneye
Thunderball
The Spy Who Loved Me
From Russia With Love
The Living Daylights
Skyfall
License To Kill
Goldfinger
Moonraker
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Quantum of Solace
For Your Eyes Only
Dr. No
Octo*****
The World Is Not Enough
Tomorrow Never Dies
Live And Let Die
You Only Live Twice
A View To A Kill
The Man With The Golden Gun
Die Another Day
Diamonds Are Forever
"Hey...Dad. Wanna Have A Catch?" Kevin Costner in "Field Of Dreams."
Goldfinger is usually at the top because many of the key iconic components start with the movie. I personally like it because of the Kentucky story line even though its pretty much lip service... IIRC except for the aerial shots of Fort Knox everything else was shot elsewhere.

I agree that Goldfinger probably had one of, if not the best 007 story.
Anybody here ever seen The Man Who Would Be King?

There are many iconic moments in many of the movies.
Casino Royale has that "on foot" chase scene through the construction site which ranks near the top as one of the best action scenes I've ever seen.
Goldfinger has so many moments, it's hard to name them all. The scene with the girl painted in gold. The ***** Galore intro where Bond says "I must be dreaming". The laser scene. The prison cell scene where he keeps making faces at the guard and finally disappears. The Ft. Knox scene of Bond and Oddjob battling it out. Classic. And then turning off the bomb with 007 seconds left.
I have a soft spot for the Timothy Dalton movies. I thought they were better written and I think Dalton gets a bad rap as the weakest Bond. I prefer License to Kill with Taliso Soto and Carey Lowell. First time I ever saw Benicio Del Toro in anything.
I really like Daniel Craig though.
For the longest time my favorite was Live and Let Die, mainly because of the boat chase scene and a young Jane Seymour. "My cousin Billy Bob has the fastest boat on the river!"
I was not a fan of Brosnan. Although I really liked "The World is Not Enough". I had a thing for Sophie Marceau in that one.
Yeah, Brosnan was better than Craig. Goldeneye was the best contemporary Bond movie IMO. Seems like Craig's movies are just mindless action. Unfortunately after Goldeneye, the Brosnan years quickly went downhill.
I too loved the chase scene in Casino Royale and the Eva Greene character is one my favorite "Bond girls"-I especially liked the quiet scene where Bond comforts Vesper in the shower after the fight to the death in the stairway.
I agree-Dalton got a bad rap. My listing of my favorite Bond movies had both of Dalton's films in the top 8. Other than Craig Dalton was perhaps the most believable in action scenes and a good actor.
I like Craig and all three of his films were good, but I have Skyfall outside the top 5 rather than right near the top.
I love Jane Seymour and I used to rank Live And Let Die higher than I do now.
I have a weakness for Goldeneye, which I find very watchable, but it is the only Brosnan Bond I really care for.
I move my rankings of Bond films around, but the top five or six are always somewhere near the top, and the bottom of the order always has The Man With The Golden Gun, Die Another Day and Diamonds Are Forever, with the latter always at the very bottom.

For me, Thundeball was the best Bond and the red-head who played one of the primary villains (Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona) is still the best bond girl ever.
Best Bond line ever was also in this movie. "Do you mind if my friend sits this one out? She's just dead."
I have to say, I find the Daniel Craig movies my least favorite of the Bond Series. Craig is pretty good, but the movies just seem to be missing something.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Without getting spoiler-y: New Star Trek is good, but they screwed up tremendously by choosing the plot they did IMO.

Just came back - and have to disagree...I thought it was great! I laughed, cried and was awed. I think the plot was well chosen, it gave old fans some familiarity but it also turned it around, in more ways than one. I see no fault in cherry-picking from another ST movie since many of the movies borrowed some from TOS to keep the fans interested. The alternative timeline means anything goes.
Tried to stay away from the spoilers so my only worry were the reports that Bones' role was pretty diminished. The movie is heavy on the Kirk-Spock bromance - but Bones still gets some great lines (and looks good doing it ).
If you have the funds see it in IMAX 3D .

I'm watching Casino Royale on USA channel right now. Just got finished with the torture scene where they strip down Bond, cut a hole in the chair, and pound his balls. Ouch.
It's one of those great scenes because it's so simple, but the battle of ego's is enjoyable to watch. And Bond with the great line, "I've got an itch, do you mind?" Villain hits him again. Bond says "A little more to the right"..............then Bond laughs hysterically......and says "now the whole world is going to know you scratched my balls".........hilarious.
And then the finale with the building crumbling down into the water. Who thinks up these things? Awesome.
Now Quantum of Solace is on. My problem with this movie is the action scenes are both filmed poorly and edited poorly. And the intro to the movie is so un-Bond movie like. Terrible attempt for a pop song.
The one thing I like about the movie is Olga Kurylenko. She is hot.
