6-1 Mariners as Ichiro gets his third hit on the day. Juan Francisco and Chris Valaika both scheduled to see action today.
Two Ks for Christiani in the inning.
I thought the idea of having a non-power hitter like Ichiro in the 3-hole was nuts, but it's looking like a good idea right now.
Been wondering if we'd see Francisco at all this spring.

Woohoo! Denis Phipps with a 3-run blast down the left field line. 6-4.
Francisco flies semi-deep to right-center field.
Andrew Brackman on. And Ks the first batter he faces. Pop up to Soto at first. Two away. Walk. Another walk. Double scores two. Balk moves the runner up 90 feet. Fly ball to left. 8-4 Ms.
Not sure how accurate Gameday is but it had Brackman's fastball as high 80s/low 90s, topping out at 92. I thought he threw harder.
Marty opines that whatever Brackman and Price have been working is not working so far today. Gotta love Marty.
Dusty Baker commenting on taller pitchers. They have so many moving parts that it takes them longer to get them all working together. Taller pitchers have more moving parts than shorter pitchers? That's a scoop. Actually, it makes no sense just like 90 percent of what Dusty says.

Lutz playing RF today. Lutz whiffs. Neftali Soto swings at the first pitch and lines a single to left. Navarro grounds to the right side. Valaika in. He hits a flare to right that falls. 8-5. Gregorius puts a charge into one but it is run down for the third out.

Brackman on for a second inning of work and is greeted by a ground single to left to lead things off. Brackman Ks Ford. Phipps with a fine sliding catch that saves Brackman's bacon. Phipps throws to first to double off the runner.

Donald Lutz with a bomb to right. 8-6.
Donnie Joseph with a perfect 8th, two Ks and a ground ball to short.
here we go undefeated season on the line.
Ex-Reds' farmhand Phillipe Valiquette trying to close things out for Seattle.
Henry Rodriguez walks on four straight. This gun must be slow. They had Valiquette topping out at 91. I am pretty sure he throws harder than that. Maybe JUGS guns need a little spring training as well. Wild pitch moves Rodriguez along. Frazier walks. Tying run on first with none down. Phipps fouls out to first. One down.

4-6-3 and this one does not belong to the Reds. Francisco gets two outs for the price of one.
