    ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Valaika strikes out on 3 pitches, all swinging.
Janish strikes out on 3 pitches, all looking.
Heisey strikes out swinging on a 2-2 count.

Reds cutting down on those strikeouts. I keep telling myself strikeouts don't matter. Haven't convinced myself yet.

In the last three games the Reds have faced King Felix and Zack Greinke. That will get you ready for the season in a hurry.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Weeks doubles off the left-field wall just above the glove of Heisey.
Frazier comes hard and makes a basket catch in short right for the first out.
Cheating Dog Braun gets a big hand from the crowd. Flies to shallow center.
    Ramirez skies to center.

Scoreless after one. John Fay will be in the booth for the entire second inning.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Juan "The food is gone" Francisco DHing and leading off the top of the second.

Francisco strikes out on a pitch in the dirt. 3 pitches and another K for Greinke. Juan back to the dugout for some more sunflower seeds.
Cairo actually puts the ball into play. F-9.
Phipps flying down the line beats the throw from short. Reds have a baserunner with two down. (Cozart with a sore right arm. They are gonna take it easy on him for a couple of days) (Masset came out of the game yesterday but is not concerned at this point.)(Madson nearly ready.)
Frazier lines one to the wall and the Reds take an early one-run lead.
Weeks makes a low throw to first and Hanigan reaches. Frazier scores all the way from second. Hanigan goes to second on the throw to the plate.
Frazier making a strong early bid to make the club. Infield single and an error on the throw scores Frazier. Error on Lucroy allows Hanigan to move up.
    Negron pops out to Weeks.

    2-0 Good guys.

Ex-Red Alex Gonzalez hitting for Milwaukee. Soft liner to Cairo at first. One down.
(Bray with a setback in a simulated game yesterday.)
Lucroy bounces up the middle, Janish fields and throws. Two down.

    2-1 Reds.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Sean Marshall on for the Reds. Does that seem usual that Leake would only go two innings on his second spring outing?

Marshall walks the first batter he faces. Weeks on first.
Morgan lines to third. Weeks scampers back to first just beating the throw.
CDB to the plate. Braun steroids one out to center. 3-2 Brewers.
Ramirez hammers one to left. Heisey leaps and grabs. Two down.
Cairo fields the a bouncer and beats Gamel to the bag.

    3-2 Milwaukee.

Frankie De La Cruz on for the Brewers.

Cairo slices one to right-center for a base knock.
Phipps hit by pitch. First and second. Nobody out.
Frazier out somehow. I missed it. Runners did not advance.
Hanigan lines to second and Phipps is doubled off first. Rally fizzles.

    3-2 Brewers.

    Carlos Fisher on.

    AGon lines a single.
Hanigan guns down AGon trying to steal. Nice.
Frazier makes a running catch to retire Lucroy for the second out.
Conrad forces Janish to make a sliding catch in shallow left.

    3-2 Milwaukee after four.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

De La Cruz hits his second batter.
Negron reaches. Moves up to second on a wild pitch. Reds in business again.
Valaika grounds sharply to short. Negron with a typical boneheaded Reds running mistake gets gunned down at third.
Valaika is lifted for a pinch runner.
Henry Rodriguez steals second. Wild pitch moves him to third.
Is everyone sitting? Janish one-hops the wall in left to tie the game at 3.
Heisey triples to center as the Reds regain the lead. 4-3.
Juan GONE!! 6-3. When he connects they stay connected.
    Brewers make a pitching change.
Neftali Soto will come on and hit for Cairo. First-pitching swinging, Soto grounds to third.
Phipps with a single, his second hit of the day. He has reached all three times, being HBP in his other AB.
Frazier grounds to short, forcing Phipps.

    6-3 Cincy.

Frazier hauls the ball in in right-center for out number one. Gomez retired.
Green flies to Denis Phipps in center.
    Morgan grounds to Janish.
    3 pitches, 3 outs.

    6-4 through five.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Navarro first-pitch swinging is retired on a fly ball.
Mike Costanzo also swipes at the first offering and leaves the park. 7-4.
HRod offers at the first pitch and grounds to the mound.
That was nine straight batters that swung at the first pitch going back to the Reds half of the fifth.
Gregorius strokes a single on the second pitch.
Jones fouls the first pitch off. Players must be under orders to go up there hacking.
(Had to watch the ending of the Bearcats game. UC rallies from 11 down in the second half to win in double OT)
    Jones ground single to right.
Francisco grounds to second to end the inning.

    7-3 Reds.

Re: ST: Reds vs. BrewCrew 3/8

Jordan Smith takes the ball here in the bottom of the sixth.

First Brewer batter (Aoki) lines to Gregorius at short. One away.
Izturis lines a single to center.
Matt Gamel to the plate. Singles past Soto, who was holding the runner, and Milwaukee has them at the corners.
Jordan Smith taking his lumps as Caleb Gindl leaves the park in right-center. Lamarre and Phipps run out of room and watch it leave the park. 7-6.
Lucroy dumps one into short center to reach first.
Smith can't find the strike zone and walks Conrad on four straight. First and second.
Bouncer to Soto who gets the force at second, return throw not in time. Runners on the corners with two down.
Runner steals second as the ball bounces out of the mitt of Navarro. Probably no throw anyway with a runner on third.
Can of corn to left for the final out.

    7-6 Reds.
