Yonder would have been nice to keep if he could have played LF, but he is no longer able to use the ballpark in SD as an excuse to be a Sean casey light. They reconfigured that park to help the hitting. I still like him but he is more like James Loney as a hitter right now.

Yea, I am not an expert on Alonso, but it looks like the Reds traded him at his peak value.

Most of his career has been in SD, and he actually hits better at home, so it's hard to blame Petco.

I know he said he redid his swing because of Petco, but a 1b that only OPSes 760 or so is not incredibly valuable. Maybe in time, he'll improve, but I'm glad we didn't move Votto to LF to make a spot for him

Stubbs has come crashing back to earth as expected. He's 0-for-3 so far today and is now batting .248 on the season. His OPS is .660 (below his career OPS of .696).

Honestly, after telling all my Indians fans friends how awful he was, it would have made me look bad if he went out and had a good year. Course, the chance of Stubbs having a "good year" are miniscule, IMO. Nothing has changed with him. I watch Tribe games occasionally. Terrible approach at the plate. Rarely walks. Strikes out a ton. Not much power. Sound familiar?

I agree. I do think the Braves won that trade. I just don't see Hoover as anything more than middling, certainly not dominant by any stretch.

Isn't a decent reliever a good return for a useful-but-limited platoon 3B?

I don't think the Reds handled Dickerson bad at all, he simply couldn't stay healthy and on the field. My only regret is that the Reds didn't sign him over the last year or so when he was bouncing around various AAA teams because he would be a nice piece to have around, recent hot streak or not.

Gaining confidence might help a bit, especially short term, but in the end his talent level will make or brake him.

Here's a question for those familiar with Gregorius: what is behind his power surge so far this year? His BABIP is higher than you'd expect, but it's not outrageous. It's the ISO that's currently higher than Joey Votto's that's a mystery to me. I always thought of Gregorius as a light hitting SS. Am I missing something, or is this nothing more than a hot streak in a small sample size?
