Andrew Brackman to pitch the 8th. Let's see if he has his control issues rectified.

Valaika barehands and fires low. Cairo digs it out for out number one.
Willie Harris with a nice play on a slicing liner. Two down.
Shot down the third base line past Valaika rattles around in the corner for a standup double.
Line drive singles to right scores the runner on a close play at the plate. Runner takes second. 9-2.
    Brackman getting hit hard.
Long fly to left ends further Padre shenanigans.

    9-2. Padres.

D.J. flies deep to left-center. Valaika advances to third.
Lutz lines it hard to left to reach. 9-4.
Cairo flies to left. Two down.
Esposito bounces one up the middle to keep things cooking for Cincinnati.
Navarro lifts a fly ball to right to end the Reds' 8th.

    Donnie Joseph takes the mound.

Hard-hit grounder to Valdez at second. He scoops and fires. One down.
Full-count fly to right hauled in near the foul line by Donald Lutz.
Chopper behind the mound. Valaika fielded but could not get the Padre runner flying down the line. Infield hit.
Grandal up. Chopper to Valaika who goes to second for the force.

    9-4. Padres.

Brad Boxberger will attempt to close this game out for San Diego. Boxberger with a 30.86 ERA this spring so there is a chance.

Line shot snagged by the third baseman off the bat of Valdez.
Gregorius skies to center on the first pitch. Down to their last out.
Harris retired on a fly to left.
