ST: Reds vs. Dodgers Wed. 3/14 (ss)

Repeat after me. Spring Training results are meaningless. Spring Training results are meaningless.

Homer Bailey blasted. 2.1IP 6H 6R 6ER 3BB 0K 2HR. A runner thrown out at the plate and a runner caught stealing or it would have been worse.
    H. Rodriguez with the only hit through three, a line single off Kershaw.
    Mesoraco gunned out another runner.

Clay Zavada pitching to Corky Miller. HOF mustache battery.
    Zavada a scoreless 1.2 with 2 punchouts.

Clayton Kershaw having a typical Clayton Kershaw performance.

Ludwick has Kd twice. Left field competition is comical so far.

In six at-bats among Votto, Ludwick and Bruce they have combined for 5 Ks and 1 BB.

I know Spring Training results are meaningless but I have a feeling this Clayton Kershaw kid is gonna be a pretty good pitcher.

Janish with a walk and a double so far. He should make the club. He won't.
E-6. Two men on for Drew Stubbs as the Reds trail by half a dozen.
    Stubbs Ks. Yawn.
Brodie Greene to the plate. Greene walks to load them up for Joey Votto.
Votto singles in two, but Brodie Greene is thrown out at third. Make that one run. Greene thrown out at third before Miller crossed home.
Never make the first or third out at third base.
    Cincinnati Reds - fundamental juggernaut.
JMO - you play like you practice.

    SMH.

Whoever is working with Marty tonight needs to sit a little closer to his mic. He did say he spoke with Mesoraco and is impressed with Mesoraco's grasp of the catching position.

    Kanekoa Texeira with 1-2-3 frame.
He is the cousin of Shane Victorino. I am pretty sure I heard that.

    Ludwick-Bruce-Francisco

Ludwick slaps one to short and grabs some pine.
Bruce singles the other way. He has been on twice tonight.
    Bruce out stealing.
Francisco comes up empty on a healthy cut.

Wholesale changes for the Reds. Vidal, Soto, Perez, Lamarre, Barnhart, Dorn and Negron on.

Steps up onto soapbox. Stubbs and Bailey are teases. They are gonna give just enough glimpses that you think they are gonna be solid major leaguers. But it will never happen. Invest emotionally and they will break your heart. Steps down off soapbox.

Dodgers playing add-on here in the top of the 7th. Run in. Runners at second and third.
Tripp Gibson III is the home plate umpire. Nice name.
    Bases-loaded two-out two-run single. A lot to a little.

I know ST games don't count. I would still rather listen to the Reds win rather than hear them get their butts kicked.

    Negron singles. Rally.
    Barnhart Ks looking.
    Miller flies to center.
Ryan LaMarre has impressed Marty this spring.
Dodgers aren't impressed. LaMarre grounds to third.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Dodgers Wed. 3/14 (ss)

Cody Puckett in at second. Daniel Corcino pitching.

Bouncer to Soto who flips to Corcino.
Vidal with a nice diving stop but the runner beats the throw.
Corcino fires a 3rd strike past somebody in Dodger Blue.
Marty gets excited. A ball off the bat is heading to foul ground but has so much spin it comes back and hits the chalk. Dodger batter never left the plate. Soto grabs the ball and touches first.

Puckett Ks as the Reds reach double-digit in strike outs.
    Soto grounds to short.
Danny Dorn up. K. It's late. Whatever. It would be nice if Dorn got a major league at-bat this year. Just for being persistent if nothing else.
