ST: Reds vs. Indians Mon. 4/2

    Phillips 2b
    Cozart ss
    Votto 1b
    Rolen 3b
    Bruce rf
    Heisey lf
    Stubbs cf
    Harris dh
    Hanigan c

    Arroyo p

I'd feel a lot better heading into the season with a solid Bronson Arroyo performance today.

Kelch and Flynn will be calling today's action.

Reds' beginning the year with 11 pitchers and 14 position players per Baker. No new news there. Sean Marshall will get first crack at being the closer.

    Phillips draws a leadoff walk.
Cozart pops to right. Cozart is slumping to end ST.
Votto lines hard to left. He seems more than ready.
Phillips attempts to pilfer second base and is caught Reds'-handed. =)

    0-0.

Brantley rolls one over to Votto who makes the play unassisted.
    Kipnis singles softly to center.
Kipnis, running on the first pitch, gets caught stealing on good throw by Ryan Hanigan.
Arroyo strikes out Choo. Nice first.

    0-0.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Indians Mon. 4/2

Rolen's bat is smoking as he rips a double to right.
Bruce flies deep enough to move Rolen along.
A Heisey sac fly gives the Reds the lead.
Stubbs sends one over the wall, on one bounce, and settles in at second.
(Dusty says that if Cueto has a short outing on Opening Day they would probably bring up another pitcher by game two.)
(Rotation will be Cueto, Latos, Arroyo, Bailey and Leake) Reds just might have the best #5 in baseball.)
Willie Harris celebrates making the club by striking out.

    1-0. Reds.

    Duncan pops to Hanigan.
    Kotchman skies to center.
Cunningham with a solid single to center.
(Bray not far enough along to pitch the 8th, but he can pitch the 7th. Only in DustyWorld.)
Hannahan retired on a shallow fly ball.

    1-0. Reds.

Hanigan reprises Phillips by drawing a leadoff walk here in the third.
Indians turn a 6-4-3 Phillips. Two down.
First-pitch comebacker to the mound off the bat of Cozart ends the proceedings.

    1-0. Reds.

Jason Donald swings and misses as Arroyo drops down sidearm.
Cozart handles a routine grounder. Two away.
Brantley grounds a single to center with two out.
Stubbs draws a bead on a fly ball to right center. Tribe down in the bottom of the third.

    Choo leadoff single to right.
Duncan takes a called third strike.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Indians Mon. 4/2

Heisey flies out the other way.
Stubbs with his second hit of the game, a grounder up the middle. Getting hot at the right time.
(I am jealous of everyone getting to see that Future's Game.)
(Hamilton hit an inside-the-parker the other day. Flynn said he just absolutely flew around the bases. Just over 13 seconds.)
Willie Harris celebrates making the team by lifting a can of corn to center field for the second out.
Hanigan grounds to third. Hanahan throws him out.

    1-0. Reds.

    Single by Hanahan.
Donald plates him with a double.
Pagnozzi sends a rocket to short. Valdez makes a nice play and there is one away.
Brantley grounds to Cairo at first. Donald moves over to third. Two down.
Kipnis bounces to the right side.

    1-1.

Substitutes galore. Cairo at first. Slidin' Billy Hamilton at second. Valdez at short. David Vidal at third. Ludwick, Lamarre and Frazier in the outfield from left to right. Mesoraco catching.

I like this lineup so much that I posted it twice.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Indians Mon. 4/2

Hamilton slices one to the left fielder for the first out in the sixth.
Valdez sends one up the shoot to the right side. Second baseman camps under. Two away.
Cairo grounds one into the hole. The shortstop fields and nips Cairo at first.

    1-1.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Indians Mon. 4/2

Bad-hop single past Cairo at first. Correction. Error on Miguel.
Ludwick battles the elements to record the first out on a fly ball off the bat of Duncan.
Pop to foul territory down the right side eludes Cairo. Another life for the Indians' hitter.
He doesn't take advantage, sending a lazy fly ball to center.
Another first-pitch swings sends a fly to LaMarre to end the home half of the sixth.

    1-1.
