    Opening Night starters

The four top clubs all open tonight, and have posted their starting pitchers:

    Louisville--Jeff Francis
    Pensacola--Pedro Villarreal
    Bakersfield--Daniel Renken
    Dayton--Justice French

The Dragons, in fact, have posted their lineup:

    Bowe, CF
    Arias, 3B
    Wright, 2B
    Waldrop, RF
    Buckley, 1B
    Silva, LF
    Selsky, DH
    Perez, SS
    Gonzalez, C
    French, RHP

That's the one that got my attention, too. It sort of seems like the Reds are anointing Waldrop, placing him on the Futures roster and slipping him between Wright and Buckley in the batting order.

I just would like to point out that the entire Midwest League will be taken to Q-School starting in a day or two. To all the batters and teams out there I will say stay patient, you will all get your turn.

It could also be a sign of goodwill, as he was next up to bat as the Futures game ended. Let's hope he lives up to our high expectations!

Kind of an interesting Dayton squad, at least as far as the lineup goes. Pitching is a bit underwhelming.

Seems there's been a little buzz about Wright. Wouldn't be surprised if he hit well.

Did not expect to see Bowe leading off. Would have predicted Perez there.

Young guys Arias and Waldrop will be key to their offensive fortunes. Tough hitters league, especially in the early going.

I'd suspect that the pitching--at least the starting pitching--will become more compelling as the recovering and suspended trickle in over the next couple months: Jacob Johnson, Daniel Tuttle, Drew Cisco and Cole Green.
