    2012 Minor League Transactions

Jose Castro was traded to the White Sox for cash.
Brett Tomko was placed on Louisville's disabled list with a right adbuctor spasm. Luis Atilano was brought in to take his place.
I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else, but Brandon Hynick was released by Pensacola earlier in the month.
Jason Christian was placed on Bakersfield's disabled list. The 25-year-old James Ewing was called up from Dayton to take his roster spot. Ewing was replaced in Dayton by Brandon Dailey.

Shunick and Bowman were high draft picks not all that long ago. Thurman and Coddington also were one-time Redszone-wide names.

Bowman was signed by Mike Keenan. A lot of his draft picks haven't worked out, but there are still a few players he signed still in the organization (RHP James Allen, RHP Scott Carroll, RHP Pat Doyle, RHP Mark Serrano). Shunick was signed by Perry Smith, who also signed RHP Drew Cisco, C Mark Fleury, RHP Jordan Hotchkiss, and RHP Dan Tuttle.

The White Sox transaction page indicated it was a cash deal.

BTW, I hate the idea of having one sticky thread for all transactions for the summer. If something goes down in June I want to see a thread on it, not have to check the sticky thread every time I come on.

Coddington retired. He was dealing with knee issues.

I plan on updating this with any moves that I see regarding disabled list additions/removals, promotions/demotions, signings, releases, trades, etc.

I don't foresee it being a problem to create individual threads for any transaction, but frankly, it's a little difficult to imagine the forum coming up with more than a post or two about Jordan Hotchkiss coming off the disabled list. If you think that would warrant its own thread, I encourage you to go for it, but in the meantime, feel free to ignore this thread and hope someone else has the energy to inform RZ of the Reds' minor league transactions by creating a separate thread for each one.

Right, but he said it would be listed as he was released for some reason.

    Re: 2012 Minor League Transactions

The Reds released left-handed reliever Clay Zavada earlier this week, according to the transactions page at CBSSports.com. The 27-year-old posted a 3.35 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 51 innings as a rookie with the 2009 Diamondbacks, but hasn't appeared in the Major Leagues since. He signed a minor league deal with the Reds over the winter after spending the 2011 season at Double-A and posting a 3.43 ERA with 6.9 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 60 1/3 innings of relief.
Oops. I guess this was already posted. My bad.

I'll miss Pfister. Good guy, good baseball guy. Maybe coaching is in his future? When I met him last year after one of his last games as a Dragon I recalled his call up and hit in Louisville. He thought that was cool I knew it occurred.
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.

Agh, I overlooked the 2nd post. Sorry for the duplication.
