Friday April 13th, 2012 Minor League Game Updates

We are getting a late start here tonight.

Louisville is up 3-2 after 5 innings. Chris Valaika had a 2 run double in the 5th to give the Bats the lead.

Pensacola is scoreless through 2.5 innings.

Bakersfield has been postponed by rain.

Dayton is up 2-1 after 4 innings. Junior Arias drove in both runs.

In a confusing move that I would like to see more on, catcher Danny Vicioso pitched the 8th inning for Dayton, giving up 3 runs in 0.2 innings. Dayton is now down 4-3.

Perhaps it was a scoring error. Now those runs and outs have been attributed to James Allen.

Man that JJ Hoover trade is looking real nice. He might be every bit as much of a "future closer" prospect as Boxberger. Is that taking it too far? I don't think so.

Boxberger has better stuff, though I am not sure by how much. They are at least comparable prospects.

Thanks for the note. I'm still happy the Reds got something decent in exchange for Francisco, who I think will never be a legit MLB player. Hoover appears to be a future MLB middle reliever at worst. (A legit one.) And at best, he could be a closer. Or a starter. Although, I think he's in the 'pen for good now.

He looked better than I've ever seen him. I hope it continues. Very good command.

Most of the Bats batters looked off balance. Hard to say how much was the hitters or the Columbus pitching. Hector Ambriz pitched poorly for the Clips and the Bats took advantage.

Although he got the win, Travis Webb didn't look good for the Bats. Some well hit outs plus trouble finding the strike zone.

    Hoover did look good.

Thanks for the report, Goya. Has anything been said about Carroll's move to the bullpen as a permanent thing? I guess I've been expecting it and it looks good.

I'm guessing Hoover gets to nod fairly quickly, as extra inning games twice in a week and ineffectiveness might make it imperative.
