    Volqeuz imploding

New team, same old loveable walk machine.

Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

I didn't know giving up two runs over 4 innings was imploding.

He walked four in the inning. Threw 34 pitches. Walked in both runs. That qualifies as, at the very least, a mini-implosion. Curious as to why the Dodgers took Kershaw out after three scoreless innings. That might be a bigger story.

I've been having trouble forgetting that we traded Josh Hamilton for him. I still have nightmares about it.

To me, seems like the same Volquez. Nasty stuff offset by a ten-cent head. When you look how far Cueto has come in learning how to pitch, it shows the kind of dominance EV could have with the right approach.

It's kinda sad, because it always feels like he's on the cusp of something. That spurt with the Rangers that caused us to trade for him, his promising return from TJ, his great performance after returning to the minors... he just never gets it together for any extended period.

Looked like vintage Volquez from the box score. Shows enough promise to make fans think, wow this guy can be great, but just wild enough to run up his pitch count after 5 innings.

He wasn't pitching too badly. He was the victim of a couple of errors that shot his pitch count. SD stuck with him a little too long. But yeah, he looked alot like the Volquez we remember.

Those errors were in the 5th, after he had gone "Wild Thing" with his control before that.

He also got an out on a wild pitch with the bases loaded, so i'd say it offsets lol. He struck out the side in the 3rd inning, and walked 4 in the 4th. It's a lot more entertaining to watch from a distance lol.

I was at this game, being in San Diego. Volquez looks to be exactly what he left from us. Still great stuff, but seemingly wild control and mental issues. He still had 7 Ks and made some hitters look stupid. Overall, I think he'll last in Petco once Black & Balsley get his mind right. With HR numbers down and a more controlled Volquez, he should come on for the Padres.
