    The season was delayed that year due to a players strike. I believe the first in history to cause a delay of the season and it also abbreviated the season. The owners chose not to make up any of the games which lead to unbalanced schedules. IIRC, the Red Sox ended the season 1/2 game behind the Tigers in the AL East.
