Joey was initially "Shocked" at the amount of years, but it was what he was hoping/working for.

    Paraphrasing
I have nothing but respect for the Cardinals.
No one in the central is in their class right now, Cubs, Brewers, ourselves included.

Was that Joey Votto or Danny Graves? He said one reason he chose to remain with Cincinnati is because (and I am putting this into my own words) the media is a bunch of cupcakes. He said he doesn't have to worry about answering questions on a daily basis about what went right and what went wrong during a game. LOL.

He seems like an intelligent, thoughtful and well-spoken individual.

Agreed. He appears to be calm and calculated, very much like the way he plays the game of baseball. This is the main reason that I feel better about the length of his contract. The reason being that I know as long as he's putting on the uniform he's going to work tirelessly to be the best player he can. In a day where many athletes are aloof and coddled, I very much respect that.

He stated that Mat Latos had a bulldog-ish attitude and reminded him of Chris
    Carpenter.

Does that mean that Latos is an A-H%&$?

Only if he is in the other dugout. Otherwise, he is a fiery competitor.

Nice interview. I think it's funny that Joey is considered to be very shy, yet sometimes when he's interviewed it seems like he can't stop talking. They could have filled an entire hour segment with him. I also liked his comments about being in a small market. It sounds like he will definitely be in Cincinnati for the long haul.
