I hope Latos turns it around and doesn't turn out to be a San Diego big stadium wonder.

The Reds gave up a lot for him. Especially Grandal, potentially very valuable switch hitting catcher.

it would be too bad if Latos isn't effective in the smaller Central stadiums. I really hope not.

There is no way Stubbs is the best defensive CFer in the game. It doesn't pass the sniff test.

That is certainly your opinion, and while I would agree with you, that doesn't make it so. As someone who supports defensive statistics, they certainly have a ways to go. Scouts all still rave about how good Stubbs is out there.

I would have to agree. He might have the best tools defensively, or the potential to be the best in the game, but I'm not sure he's even in the top 5 right now.

Is Phillips only playing because Dusty is afraid of losing his job?

Explain this to me. With Stubbs at .186 and Bruce at 196. With Phillips at .179 and Heisey at .220. And yet Stubbs is brutally panned while Bruce gets excuses. Phillips is hitting worse than both and is adored. Heisey is no better and everyone wants him to bat twice as often. Stubbs sees the pitcher hit a ball where no one ever dreamed he would and can't get there even with his speed and he is worthless. Shouldn't Bruce, Phillips, all of these also be worthless? Truth is, when you allow 8, it doesn't matter anyway. Let's play Heisey in center and see how he comes to catching that ball. I really do not understand.

Latos didn't get by on long fly balls in SD.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Look up Bruce, Phillips, and Heisey's numbers last season. Then go look at Stubbs.

    There you go.

Look at last season's Stubbs stat line and you will understand. It is a carryover from a terrible series of 600 at bats in 2011.

Stubbs had a .686 OPS last year and struck out 205 times, and he just looks to be getting worse.

The only thing worse than watching the Reds is reading this game thread... And I actually got on here to gripe and vent. The hyperbole and the overreaction is out of this world right now. I get it... But some of these guys need saddles the way you guys ride them. This team looks snake bit and the expectations have us all frustrated... But after reading through the thread, I feel like everyone is angry, insane, and sick of reading/arguing with each other. I guess fans that don't have Redszone take their anger out on Dallas Latos via Twitter... Not a very proud to be a Reds fan on the Internet tonight.
I know a lot of people are talking about his on-base percentage (.308 in 2008), but I like to think more in terms of him his in-scoring position percentage. - Our Beloved Manager

You just knew this roadie would be bad,, but sadly it's even worse than expected. Not sure they'll even limp home 2-8 at this rate.

We'll see. Someone said you're only as good as your last song, game, season or whatever. Yes, Drew had a horrible end to last year and has started off bad, but for the life of me, I cannot see how he is any worse than most of the starting lineup. It's a slump and the opposing pitchers knowing how to pitch us. And no one is worthless. Just slumping.
