Interesting story from the Dayton broadcaster. Curt Schilling had a no-hitter going late (either 8th or 9th). The score was 1-0. Ben Davis led off with a bunt single. The broadcaster went around after the game and asked 12 people (6 fans and 6 players) if that was acceptable. The vote was 6-6. All six fans said it was acceptable.
And none of the six players thought it was.

I remember that game and how angry Schilling was after the game. I am with Schilling.

Didi Gregorius with another single. He is 2-2, up to .390 on the year. He has 23 hits. They are all singles.

Gregorius, Rodriguez and Greene. Not too shabby in the Pensacola infield.

Didi may have no power, but he gets on base. I saw Moneyball and they said that getting on base is good.

Didi actually has more power than his numbers suggest. He doesn't use it well, he has 15 home runs in his bat if he can figure out how to use it. He has the bat speed and the leverage when he swings for the fences (the bat speed is always there).

As for the last sentence, I am glad I wasn't drinking anything or I would be cleaning my keyboard and monitor. But to be fair, Didi hasn't posted an OBP over .333 since Billings. His plate approach means he won't walk much (he sells out with two strikes to make contact, which also could be why his power is down some compared to his power potential), so it is closely tied to his OBP. He makes plenty of contact though, so if his power can come around some he could still be a good offensive shortstop.

The Pensacola box score hasn't been updated in about an hour. Not the first or even second time this has happened this year. Disappointing.

An error by Junior Arias gets erased on a base running blunder and Dayton gets out unscathed in the top of the 10th. Dragons #2-3-4 hitters coming up.

Ryan Wright tried to sac bunt Juan Perez over to second, but the pitcher bobbles it and both guys are safe. No outs, runners on 1st and 2nd.

Wild play in Dayton. With two outs and a runner on the opposing hitter hits a pop up about 8 feet up the 3B line. The pitcher and catcher both go after it and almost collide, but don't. The pitcher (Dan Jensen) dropped the ball. The catcher picks it up and tries to throw it to the third baseman to get the advancing runner but throws it into left. The left fielder tried throwing it home but threw it into the back stop (the runner was going to beat the throw either way). Dragons heading to the bottom of the 13th down 5-4.
