Who is Sarah Phillips...tale of an ESPN scammer?

"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. Mariner

Feel for the kid who lost his 300k likes FB page. That's not an insignificant achievement, and to lose it to a scammer is terrible.

Kudos to deadspin, that's an interesting read. Sucks for that kid that got scammed, but I dunno why he didn't see through the scam sooner.

The best part is that it keeps getting weirder. Connections to condescending wonka, stolen Twitter accounts, solen fb pages, law suits, threats, and screenshots galore...it just keeps on giving. How ESPN hired this myth wo ever actually asking to meet is beyond me.

I'm predicting it has something to do with "her" being hot and the editor being a middle aged male.

    Just a prediction.

Well he's 19 and she really did work for ESPN. A lot to be distracted by there, can't say I'd have caught on any quicker.

Maybe, but those wild threats would have flagged me.

Me at 30? Sure. Me at 19? Doubtful. The only threat was the images he was using were owned by Getty.

Are you talking about the threats to the gambling guy?

Appears that "Ben" got his FB NBA Memes page back and Sarah is responding to the story on twitter.

My guess is that Prasad is really "Sarah Phillips" and paid a hot Oregon St. coed to be the face of the scam.

Yeah I might have had all of the scams crossed up lol. I guess I can see where a 19 year old could buy into that Getty images story.

I lost interest in the Deadspin story about a third of the way.

I found the whole concept of buying Twitter accounts interesting and a bit of an eye opener.
