    Dayton Dragons

I went to my first Dragons game in a long while. In fact the last time I went to a Dragons game, Edwin Encarnacion was the 3B. A few things I didn't recall but noticed:

    1) Only two umps
    2) Only three coaches, manager, hitting and pitching
    3) Players served as base coaches although I think manager Delino DeShields was the 3B coach.

Is that typical for an A league game?

I didn't come away particularly impressed with any players but the Dragons catcher was pretty impressive defensively and the SS hada good night at the plate. My seats weren't the greatest but it was fun and I'll return for a game in June

Anyone have any comments on attending Dragons games?

Those things are all typical for A ball games. Even as you work your way up, players typically are the first base coach.

Love going to Dragons games. They do a great job putting on a game and that ballpark is really cool. Makes you feel like you're not even in Dayton for a couple hours.

As to 1, 2, and 3 above, that's typical at ALL levels of the minor leagues.

See the Bats roster: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats...=true&sid=t416 Only 3 coaches listed. Some teams will have the batting coach at 1st base during games, but most cover it with a player.

#1 is not typical. When you get to AA you get three umpires.

Ah. My bad. It's been a while since I was at a AA or AAA game.

Looking forward to heading out to my first Dragons game this season next Wednesday. Although it will be down here in Bowling Green, not up in Dayton.
