I'd let him finish the game out.

If it's a long top half of the 9th I'd go ahead and pull him though.

I agree with that, but I think Cueto is a different kind of pitcher. Some guys wear down around the 90-pitch mark, but Cueto is just getting warm when he gets in that range. He doesn't expend a lot of energy with his mechanics, and he's thick. He's a horse. I would have pinch hit for him in the 8th, for the same reason you stated, but I definitely don't have a problem with letting him go for the CG.

As a viewer, I'd like to see him pitch the 9th, but I would be prone to coddle such a valuable guy if I were Dusty.

Great AB by Rolen to draw a walk. 2-out bases loaded for Heisey.

Hoover up- maybe too much base clogging to allow Cueto to finish.

Heisey pops up. 6-1 Reds going to bottom of 9th.

As you can see, I'm on the fence. Like I said, I would have PH for him in the 8th. On the other hand this is the first time he's gone past 7 this year, and we're going to need him at times to go more than that, so might as well get ready for it. But after a long top of the 9th, I'd rather see someone else close it out. I definitely agree with coddling our ace early, but I also want to rest our great bullpen whenever we can.

One pitch, one out. That works.

This has been a great game from a Reds perspective.
