    happy recap

The Reds relied today on starter John Coutlangus and slugger John Vukovich as they beat the Brewers 2-1 today. There were some tense moments in the ninth innings as the Brewers loaded the bases against reliever Ricky Bones but he finally retired Ben Oglivie to win the game for the reds
The Reds managed only five hits but bunched together hits by Gary Varsho, Vuckovich and BillPLummer to win the game.

Fireballer Brad Lesley pitched a scoreless eighth, but then "closer"

Ben Hayes gave up a home run to Brewers slugger, Gorman Thomas

note the subtlety of using John Coutlangus (initials J.C.) (Cueto)
and John Vuckovich (inials J.V. ) for Joey Vottto

note the brilliance of narrative, the intertwining of glorious Reds into the game summary exactly with the same initials as todays players,

    just a brilliant, trenchant, pasquinade
