Brook Fordyce (42) -Reds backup catcher in the late 1990s. In January of 2002 he survived a life-threatening incident in which an artery ruptured and spewed five pints of blood into his abdomen.
Others:
Steve Whitaker (69) -The expansion 1969 Seattle Pilots traded Lou Piniella to the expansion Royals to get Steve. Not a great idea; Lou won Rookie of the Year.
Claude Raymond (75) -Pitcher from Quebec;nicknamed "Frenchy" (go figure...). Later an announcer. See if you notice the problem with Claude's 1966 and 1967 Topps baseball cards...

Dick Williams -Acerbic but highly successful manager. One of only rwo managers to lead four different franchises to 90+ win seasons. Once won $50,000 on "Hollywood Squares".
Tom Zachary -Famous for giving up Babe Ruth's 60th home run; also holds the record for most wins in a season without a loss (12-0 in 1929).
