    5/11/12 -- Nationals at Reds

    Gio Gonzalez vs. Mike Leake.
Gio's allowed 3 ER's in his previous 5 starts. His previous 2 starts vs. the Reds resulted in 7 IP each and 0 ER each, one on April 12, 2012 and one back in 2010.

Mike Leake has mixed results against the Nationals. 3-1 with one ND.

Here's the Reds lineup. Ludwick back in LF. I guess Frazier got his shot and is back on the bench.

    1. Zack Cozart (R) SS
    2. Drew Stubbs (R) CF
    3. Joey Votto (L) 1B
    4. Brandon Phillips (R) 2B
    5. Jay Bruce (L) RF
    6. Scott Rolen (R) 3B
    7. Ryan Ludwick (R) LF
    8. Devin Mesoraco (R) C
    9. Mike Leake (R) P

Hopefully Leake will pitch well tonight. It would be huge to win this game.

I realize it's a long season, but I really want to take 2 of 3 on this series.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

He just didn't take advantage of his chance. Only has a 1.213 OPS. You can't afford to have a automatic out like that in your line-up. Not when you can stick a .182 hitter in there.

Prediction: Coming to a TRANSACTIONS report near you: Leake to Louisville, Chapman to the rotation.

I'll take Jeff Francis at this point. Leake needs to do his straightening out at Louisville..

One thought is to let Hanigan catch Leake for a couple of games.

Not picking on Mes at all, he's fine, just thinking maybe with a very young pitcher like Mike a veteran catcher might help settle him down and make some better pitches.

Disappointing because Leake pitched pretty well last time. At least the inning is over, 3-0 after one half inning.

Could that veteran catcher please be Corky?

Give Mike two starts with Hanigan. If this continues, I'll back your proposal.
