This is the infamous Mother's Day Massacre. The Cards scored three in the fifth and two more in the sixth to cut the lead to 8-5. Then in the eighth, the Cardinals got another rally going, putting runners on first and second with two outs. Enter Reds reliever Danny Graves, who immediately gave up a two-run double to Placido Polanco, a game-tying RBI double to Fernando Viņa, and a two-run homer to J.D. Drew before striking out Gene Stechschulte.
