    Agreed, 110%
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

You're probably right in retrospect because Homer is now out of the ballgame. Still, he pitched very well tonight I think it was reasonable to stick with him there.
Maybe its growing up with Sparky, but I don't let starting pitchers go as long as possible. Always put your team in the best position to win. I don't think Dusty does that.

Bourn flies out to center. 1-1 after 7.

But he can't hit. So you bunt.

There was plenty of opportunity by the non-pitchers to knock in Heisey, nobody came through.

On the other hand, Homer looks a bit shaky in the seventh.
The 7th isn't going to your pen early... I agree that Homer is capable of going back out. But what about Cozart's ABs today or the offense besides JB and JV make you believe that this was the right play?

Homer has given you a great outing, no need to push him well over 100 pitches. Homer needed a positive start, you hit for him and he can't lose and he struck out Chipper to end the inning. If the PH gets a knock then he can win the game. Give your team a chance... Giving up the 2nd out limits their ability to score! Don't go all in on a 2 out hit, especially from a rookie that's looked rough at the plate tonight.

Not disagreeing. Captain Hook knew his stuff.

But there's also the issue of constantly using three or four relievers every game. And I think there is utility in letting Homer pitch seven good innings, although he didn't quite get there.

Maybe it's my adjustment to a team that doesn't score much. Maybe this kind of offense requires pitchers to be pulled down early so a pinch hitter can possibly plate a run.

Stubbs has had his average nosedive 30 points in about 3 days.

Absolutely. I'd love to see him put a string of these together.

I predict that pitching this lefty reliever will hurt the Braves.

Managers don't get it. Votto hits lefties as well or better than righties.
