I agree with the above posters. Homer is having a great game on the hill. Commanding most of his pitches and having some success despite squeeze calls early in the game.

    Pastronicky with an infield hit.

Homer was at 100 pitches after the 6th... Pinch hit and give your boys 2 cracks at them, instead of 1 with 2 outs. Dusty hurts my head! Things like that really get to me. Lol

I'll defend Dusty on that play. Homer is pitching well, can't always use the pen early, Homer very capable of pitching the seventh.

But he can't hit. So you bunt.

There was plenty of opportunity by the non-pitchers to knock in Heisey, nobody came through.

On the other hand, Homer looks a bit shaky in the seventh.

One more reaches and you must go to the pen.

Why limit your chances to score?

So close. Votto makes a nice play to start a 3-6 FC. Almost a DP but he beat the throw to 1st.

Also like to take pitchers out before they fall apart. The bullpen's reliable; give Homer a good start.

And as I type, Bailey's out.

Homer deserved a win tonight. Unfortunately our offense is what it is. Sad.

So, you have Bailey sacrifice when he doesn't have one all year with your best chance to score, only to survive one or two batters in the next inning when he had 99 pitches and you had a well rested pen? That's losing baseball.

Just letting a starting pitcher go as long as possible, avoiding overuse of the pen, avoiding the risk of a new pitcher.

You're probably right in retrospect because Homer is now out of the ballgame. Still, he pitched very well tonight I think it was reasonable to stick with him there.
