Phillips has seemed to be 0-2 for years. Just from observation, he is always falling behind.

When he's hitting well, he does a pretty good job even behind in the count.

    But he's not hitting well.

    Great catch to rob Bruce.

What big part is a 600 OPS guy playing between these lefties Mr. Cowboy? This lineup is truly just Joey and Jay.
I know a lot of people are talking about his on-base percentage (.308 in 2008), but I like to think more in terms of him his in-scoring position percentage. - Our Beloved Manager

Dusty's refusal to hit Bruce behind Votto is making him near Bob Boone status for me.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

That's how it goes for good teams. They make the swipe tags that are tough. they misplay a line out but still catch it, they tag on a bloop catch and still score.

For a while it was almost amusing that Dusty refuses to hit Bruce 4th. Now it just angers me. Yes, BP is due to get hot at some point and hit for a little bit of power, but if I'm an opposing team, I give Joey absolutely nothing to hit if there are two outs.

Very nice sixth by Homer. I'm telling you, this is one of the best games I've seen him pitch. Beautiful pitch to fan Chipper there.

Too bad about the run, but Bourne's speed hurt the Reds.

Time to get a lead for Homer, he deserves it tonight.

Re: 5/14/12 - Reds at Braves

Meanwhile Homer is putting together a very, very nice start against a team coming off of a sweep of the vaunted Cards....extremely encouraging. He seems to be using his splitter a little bit more tonight to keep hitters off balance.

I don't have the numbers to back it up, but I feel like he becomes too much of a fast/curve guy every once in a while...and since his curve is so big, it's easy for hitters to pick each pitch up out of his hand.

Heisey doubles. Let's see if the Reds can bring him around. Certainly wouldn't bet the ranch on it, but you never know.
