Ike Davis didn't stand a chance as he K's. 6-3 Reds after 8.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I'd leave Chapman in, but I'm sure we'll see Marshall

Chapman is due up this inning, so let there be no doubt.

There was another part to his reasoning IIRC. He said something about wanting to try to get Ludwick going before the AL games (DH I'd assume). And with Heisey finally starting to swing...it's not a good time to rest him either.

At the end of the day, there's probably never a perfect day to rest your star players. So he kinda had to pick his poison.

Costanzo grounds out to 1st. 1 out.

It's one game. 1. He should have done it against Wandy Rodriguez but he chose this guy.

Nobody commented on the fact that Dusty pulled Mes for Hanny when Chapman came in. Odd.

Cozart flies out to CF. 2 out.

    Marshall is warming.

Dusty is confusing to be sure.

But Bruce has 2 hits and no walks in 11 AB's vs. Santana. Assuming he was going to give Bruce a rest sometime soon, this was a good time. Santana has given up a .282 OPS this year vs. LH hitters, though he isn't historically particularly better.

Stubbs grounds out to short (and off the pitcher, I think). 6-3 Reds to the bottom of the 9th.

Did he at least take a pitch? He is a Baker dream.....aggressive and swinging right out of the bench.
