I think he was simply being rested. You may as well rest him vs. a Santana type guy, assuming you are going to rest him.

Which makes it worse. Essentially you are saying that Cozart hitting with a man on second with two outs is better than any pinch hitter with one out followed by Cozart. I'm sorry, I can't get behind that logic.

The good news is the back of the Mets bullpen is fairly Cubs-esque, with their closer Frank Francisco in particular struggling mightily.

I agree that there should not have been a bunt.

But why do you think the number of pitches is relevant?

Wright hits it up the middle, right where BP is playing. 3-2 Mets after 7.

    Is he still their closer?

Because its obvious he's done. You must pinch hit and swing the bat.

I really think dusty lets the pitcher hit in the half inning before he knows the pitcher is done is because he has no other better options on the bench. That is amazing considering the bench players are primarily getting paid to hit and field.

I believe so, he got a shaky save the other day after Collins gave him the vote of confidence. It's possible he'll mix and match though.

Stubbs singles to start the 8th.

Sometimes I get the feeling from you guys that there is NEVER an appropriate time to bunt. Is there? (I didn't have a big problem with that call btw)

Votto singles and stretches it into a (close) double! 2nd and 3rd, no outs.
