What does Marshall do better than Chapman? They both throw with the same hand. Chapman has better stuff. He's probably the most dominant reliever in baseball right now.

    And he's not closing.

It made sense at the beginning of the season. Lots of questions about Chapman. Not so much anymore.

Nice curve. Martin strikes out looking.

You can't hide a guy pitching him in the eighth. Marshall just has to pitch a little better.

He's now ahead of Russell Martin, but he's a tough hitter.
He doesn't need to be hidden. He's proven to be a very good reliever in his career.

    He's just not a closer.

Pretty pitch. And I prefer the way it is now. Chapman setting up, Marshall closing.

I know I'm being a whiner, but next week I'll be in DC and we'll be busy all weekend. I'll have to check my schedule the following week. I may have to break down and get cable. Somebody want to PM what you pay in the city of Cincinnati?

I don't get the criticism of Marshall as closer, especially after we endured years of CoCo.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Also remember, at the beginning of the season, the goal was for Chapman to pitch a month in relief, and then switch to starting, Much harder ro do that if he's closing.

He's got a 4.40 ERA right now. If that keeps up, he's going to blow a lot more saves.

Jones singles to center. 1st and 3rd.

Marshall has much more experience in the bigs. He's not going to walk the bases loaded. And he's proven to be just as tough. I like Aroldis to have multiple innings quite often.

That was never the goal. He won't start this year.

He has had two 1,2,3 innings in his last 10 outings.

After giving up the run this inning, his e.r.a. will more than likely be over 4.00. I'm not a big fan of closers with 4.00 e.r.a.'s.

Chapman should be closing. Or Ondrusek.
