I will never understand HAVING to use your "closer" when the guy pitching before him was literally unhittable.

I hate baseball managers. All of them.

That means nothing. The guy is what, 39 or 40 years old? Maybe he wanted to play for a team with a legitimate chance at the World Series. $900K to him at this point in his career is pretty meaningless.

there's no reason to have a set closer when your original set closer gets injured

Closers close, dude. Players got to get their numbers.
A summer watching a bad Reds' team, is still a pretty good summer.

Couldn't agree more ...This is a no brainer if Chapman's out there. Marshall hasn't pitched a clean 9th but MAYBE once this year.

It wouldn't matter even if he did swing. Point is, his glovework has a long way to go. It didn't matter there, obviously, but dropping a ball like that can often be the difference in getting a borderline call.

If anyone else gets on, Jeter gets another crack at it.

Being able to use Chapman at any point in the game is more valuable than being able to do so with Marshall. Keep in mind that chapman went against the middle of the order.

$900K is not meaningless to anyone.
