    Ryan LaMarre

Is there any chance he gets promoted to louisville any time soon? He one of two players i think that deserve a promotion (the other is henry rodriguez) and this is based purely on offensive numbers.

LaMarre's numbers are decent, but I think this is really the first stretch in the minors where he has put up decent numbers. While he is one of my favorite farmhands, let's see how well he can sustain those numbers for awhile. There is absolutely NO reason to move him to AAA in 2012, and I'm not sure 2013 is his year, either. I'd much rather see him force his way into a promotion.

You wouldn't promote hardly anyone then. LaMarre is on his way to deserving a promotion, if nothing else, after 2012, to AAA. It is too early to promote him now, it is May 21st and as several guys have shown, it is very early still and you can have huge swings in production at this point in the season still.

I sure wish he could add about 40 or 50 points to that SLG%

I sure wish I would wake up to Kate Upton every morning.

Really though, I can see LaMarre adding some power to his game over the next few years. He is a big guy and he shows some intriguing power the other way right now. Not entirely sure how much power he will add, but I could see him improving his power output a little bit.

He'll likely be in Triple-A in Late August at the earliest.

Wow. . . . Why do you think we have such a seeming scarcity? Is it just coincidental or does it have something to do with the Reds draft and development philosophy? We seem to have more than our share of swing and miss types; and Votto is the only one on the MLB roster that I've noticed who chokes up a little with 2 strikes in a concentrated effort to put the ball in play.

It depends on what you want out of a leadoff hitter. To me, Henry Rodriguez would make a fine leadoff hitter. LaMarre could. Hamilton could.

The problem with the ideal leadoff hitter is that you generally want them to have lower power outputs, but still be able to get on base. Those guys are generally a tad rare because pitchers don't often walk guys who don't have much power and you just don't have many true .300 hitters who aren't also hitting for a bit of power.

I believe if anybody deserves a promotion from Pensacola it is Henry Rodriguez.

Can't promote guys who are on the DL.

Problem is where would Rodriguez go? He gets on alot and i would be fine with it but he is kind of blocked by the long term deal the reds signed with phillips and he hasn't shown me the ability to play another position.

    Re: Ryan LaMarre

Rodriguez's future in the organization is at 3B. I am convinced LaMarre's ceiling is Drew Stubbs with less power and less strikeouts. That could be a useful player but unlikely to be an impact starter. Definitely not a LF.

Nonetheless, I'd still like to see him get to AAA at some point this season. Rodriguez should get there as soon as he comes off the DL.

I don't know if Henry Rodriguez would be a starter or a reserve with the Reds. Either way, though, to me he seems like a terrific fit on the ballclub. Switch hitter, good OBP man. If he plays third well, that would be a huge plus because it's a position in flux on the team. I'm excited about him being a Red in the next year or two.

Not worried about his power at all, seems to have good OBP skills.

Lamarre, I don't know that much about him, but potentially a fourth outfielder type based on the numbers.
