Jay Bruce is fighting it again. 1 for his last 26? Wow. Now that is another valley.

Bruce getting the ball in play would likely result in a run scored 90% of the time.

Bruce is an unbelievably streaky hitter. About as streaky as any player I've seen in darn near a half century of watching baseball.

Yes, he's about as streaky as Aaron Boone, who was unbelievably streaky.

It's not a feather in Jay's cap. He's better than this.

I agree, he's good enough that there should be some middle ground when he's off but there doesn't seem to be. He's ever locked in and hot or cold as heck. Nothing in between.

Exactly what I was thinking... he's not normally a huge DP candidate.

It all stems from pulling off the ball or simply trying to pull the outside strike.

You'd think he'd have learned a thing or two from Votto by now

Funny part is that Bruce usually hits too many in the air, especially at GABP.

Chappy gets JF to ground out. Let's win it now.

Great job by Chapman. Wouldn't mind seeing him get 2-3 days off. He's pitched six of the last eight days.
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"
