Doug Flutie's Parents Pass Away On Same Day

    http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/...s-die-same-day

I read this story and simply went "Wow!"

They say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it," Flutie said.

I just had an uncle pass away a couple weeks ago, several months after his wife. They were a phenomenal couple, deeply in love. She had been ill for quite some time, and we could see the emotional toil it was taking on him. Not to sound morbid, but It was simply one of those situations where one thinks "When one goes, the other probably won't last much longer because of that deep, life-long bond where they simply don't want to live without the other."

My wife's parents are that way. They're almost 90, and she has been in bad health these last few years. Not only can one see the love in their relationship, but Dad has always been emotionally dependent upon her for support. My wife sincerely believes that once Mom is gone, Dad won't last much longer.

My prayers out to Doug Flutie and siblings.

I just saw this on twitter. Just awful and very very sad. I just couldn't imagine having something like that happen.

It's traumatic emotionally to lose one parent, let alone both within an hour of each other... but if I were in the situation - and who knows, maybe the Flute siblings also look at it this way too.... I'd take an optimistic view and say "Obviously the one hour separation was too long for Mom. I'll miss them terribly; but good to see they're reunited."

Obviously a sad story, but I thought it was kind of sweet, too.

It's kind of sudden for the family to deal with but I don't think it's sad. It's a great way to go
