    It's not necessarily thrown to have them swing at it, it's thrown to change the eye level of the hitter. If they swing at it....all the better.

    I've considered that...but it seems like a buried slider might actually induce a swing (and miss).

    I would imagine it would probably be better in the dirt, but probably depends on the hitter. If he goes after high cheese then throw it.

    I seriously doubt Hoover meant to throw it helmet high. It just got away from him.

    I don't want to jinx him, but like most everyone in the pen, Hoover has been very good. I remember when we used to say around these parts that any pitcher the Braves let go of probably is overrated by other teams and will falter.

    So far Hoover is spitting in the face of that.

    Of course, it is a small sample size and I once had high hopes for Johnny Ruffin and Ryan Wagner too.
