    Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

    Anyone else excited?

Part of me loves the parody of Lincoln's papers, and part of me wants to see really lazy students in US History class, discussing "history".

I'm very excited. The book was a riot and practically begged to be made into a movie.

I hope the movie is good. I have gone to some movies just because the title made me laugh, such as "Snakes on a Plane" and "Cowboys and Aliens." Unfortunately those movies often turned out to be disappointing.

Tim Burton is producing it so I will not see it. I refuse to help any movie in the box office that he's attached to

I would rather watch the Cubs win the World Series. Looks beyond insufferable from the trailer. And I actually like the title.

    Sometimes I like historical movies.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

Nothing screams I have no ideas more than inserting the undead into a story

The book is really quite wonderful, though. The author has made quite a living off of this type of thing. Android Karenina, Pride and Prejudice with Zombies, Sense and Sensibility with Seasmonsters are all pretty entertaining lighthearted romps. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is a tad more serious so I'm skeptical of how the movie will play out, but the book is pretty skilled in the way history and fiction are woven together.

You just named all the books I was thinking of prior

I get the genre and if anyone likes it that's fine with me, just not my style at all

I totally get that. My wife is obsessed with modern vampire novels (Anita Blake etc.) but I just don't enjoy them at all. She can't stand my baseball and history books so we're even there. Varitey is the spice of life I suppose.

By the way, I misspoke in my previous post. Android Karenina is by a different author.

I think the planned sequel, "Millard Fillmore: Werewolf Appeaser," is a sign that the genre may have outlived his usefulness.

I don't understand the attraction of vampire movies in general, but the Millard Filmore comment is priceless!

You are depriving Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp of their retirement....

I have decided that this is non-fiction.
