Wow, Brewers put Lucroy on the DL

Injuries are coming in waves for the Brew Crew this year. Their hottest hitter -- catcher Jonathan Lucroy -- was just placed on the DL. He broke his hand when a suitcase fell on it:

Some years it just goes that way for a team. The Brew Crew will be back next year, at least competitive, but this year is just not their year in any way shape or form.

The Brewers are going to get blown up this year. Grienke will be moved at the deadline. I would imagine KRod will be flipped as well. Come June I think they will be in full firesale mode looking towards 2014 more than 2013.

I wouldn't mind Greinke and/or Hart making the trip across the midwest. Would Hart be enough of a threat for the 4 hole chasm we have?

May I suggest looking at KC for a potential SS? Alcides Escobar?

None of those players will be changing teams.

The Brewers aren't cashing in anytime soon.

KC won't part with Escobar. He's one of the main pieces they receive in return for Greinke.

The Brewers are a mess, hit a freaky streak last year by winning at home. Between injuries and a shallow pitching staff and poor D, they just still remind me a lot of the 2001-2008 Reds. They probably have a bit more overall talent, but very similar type of team with similar weaknesses.

Wow this was a very odd, freaky injury. Didn't his wife drop the suitcase on his hand?

I think it's retributive justice for Braun not being required to serve his suspension.

Yes. Anytime I hear an elaborate story, I assume there's a good chance the player is fibbing. Lucroy might be telling the truth here (he was reaching under the bed for a sock and his wife dropped the suitcase on his hand) but all I can think of is Jeff Kent hurting himself while "washing his car."

If Greinke or KRod get traded the Brewers will be looking for and getting the kind of prospect package the Reds no longer have to offer. And JF is right, no way in the world that KC lets go of Escobar.

Why would someone want to go after Escobar? Poor plate discipline, no power to speak of....

Especially in light of what we've seen of Cozart? What does Zach have to do to get people to realize he can play the position...

Got me, I'm convinced on Cozart. An exciting young player making great plays and holding his own offensively despite not being a leadoff hitter.

Exactly. With the holes we have at 3B and LF and the SS prospects we have in the minors, why would we target a SS? Cozart is the least of our concerns

I don't think the Brewers will firesale. They will try to resign Grienke and try again next year.
They have a good core.. They are kind of similiar to the Reds last year.. Things just didn't work out this year.
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!
