    Tuesday, May 29, 2012, Minor-League Updates

Kurtis Muller (.438) is 2 for 2. The rest of the Dragons, not so much. Dayton trails 6-0 after four. Tough start for Dan Jensen.

The good news: Louisville is only half that bad, trailing 3-0 after four.

With a pair of singles against Zach Duke, Willie Harris skyrockets to .222. Jeff Francis struggles.

Louisville with 10 hits through 5.2 innings and still only one run. They trail 3-1. Jeff Francis has settled down, giving up the three runs in six innings of work. Negron, Gathright, Dorn with two hits apiece. Willie Harris is three for three. Cody Puckett with one hit. Bats scored on a Negron double and a Gathright single.

James Allen with two perfect innings in relief. He has struck out three opposing hitters.

Interesting that Dayton can be outhitting West Michigan, 8-7, and trailing 8-0. With only one solo HR involved.

Brandon Dailey replaced Ryan Wright in mid-game. Don't see anything in the play-by-play that might explain it.

Ryan Wright was 0 for 2 when he left the game with a sprained left wrist in the fifth inning, ending his 11-game hitting streak. Wright, batting .315, recorded the longest hitting streak of the year to date by a Dayton player. Wright will be examined on Wednesday but is not expected to miss significant time. His removal from the game was a precautionary measure. The injury occurred when Wright, covering first base on a bunt play, reached to catch a throw and was struck by the runner as he arrived at the base.

Bats lose 6-2. Willie Harris goes 4 for 4 bringing his AAA BA to .246.

There is no doubt in my mind that Willie Harris is a better hitter than Mike Costanzo. Now that his bad small sample size appears to be over, it's time to bring him up.

Dragons lost 8-0. Jensen allowed 6 earned in 3 innings. Muller went 3 for 4 to bring his BA to .441. Buckley went 2 for 3 including his 5th double of the year. He was hitting in the 8 hole and is still below the Mendoza line (.198).

Does it seem like the totally uninteresting teams at Dayton and Louisville are sapping the energy out of this board--or at least the daily updates? Looking forward to when the short-season clubs get going.

A number of the more highly-regarded prospects were sent shipping over the winter. I think that has something to do with it. No Boxberger, Grandal, Torreyes, Sappelt etc. to follow. Alonso, Frazier, Cozart and Chapman up in the show. This farm system took a pretty big hit IMO.

Pensacola jumps out early scoring a run in the top of the first. LaMarre singles, Didi bunts him along, Greene doubles. 1-0 Wahoos still batting.

Jackson gets that run back in the bottom half of the inning and has a man on third with two outs.

Tony Cingrani (1.05) will try to keep his ERA under the Gibson Line (1.12). If it's Tuesday in Bakersfield we must be talking Tacos.
